Volunteer Opportunities

Every year the JDRF TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes draws people together in a healthy activity for a worthy cause, raising money for research that helps to cure, better treat and prevent type 1 diabetes (T1D). It's fun for families & friends and builds camaraderie among company employees. If you would like to volunteer for the Walk, JDRF offers lots of great volunteer opportunities, including:

Cabinet/Committee:

In partnership with JDRF Chapter/site staff, Cabinet volunteers provide senior leadership and support to ensure the Walk is of the highest caliber, raising maximum funds at minimum expense to JDRF while stimulating participation.

Social Media/Digital Ambassador:

We’re looking for enthusiastic, social media aficionados to be this year’s JDRF TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes Digital Ambassadors.

Life as a JDRF TELUS Walk Digital Ambassador means:

Parking Attendants:

Monitor parking lots and ensure traffic is directed in an orderly manner.

Photography:

Take photographs throughout the event of individual teams, key individuals and special Walk elements (cheque presentation, etc.), and provide electronic files or film to the JDRF National Office.

Fundraising Rewards Area:

Verify the fundraising rewards earned and provided to Walkers. JDRF provides guidelines for distributing rewards.

Refreshment Area:

Ensure all Walkers and volunteers receive food and refreshments throughout the day. Monitoring and restocking of product is required.
