Each year, from coast to coast, Canadians join the TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes to improve the quality of life for those living with type 1 diabetes (TID). Team members, families, friends and organizations come together and make every step count by raising funds to support research to better treat, and eventually cure T1D, a disease affecting the quality of life of more than 300,000 Canadians.
This year marks TELUS’ tenth year as the title sponsor of the TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes. We are privileged to have seen the record involvement, corporate participation and funds raised in support of finding a cure for T1D throughout the past decade.
I’ve often said that healthcare is a team effort. From the world-changing discovery of insulin to more recent innovations and breakthroughs, it is thanks to the great strides of organizations like JDRF and researchers alike that people with type 1 diabetes are managing the disease more effectively.
For the TELUS team, making a difference in the lives of those affected by T1D is a priority. By investing in the sector that is most important to Canadians – healthcare – we are helping to secure better and more sustainable healthcare solutions for generations to come. That is why our investment reaches beyond volunteering our time and contributing financially. We also use our expertise to develop tools that help people manage the disease through technology powered by TELUS Health.
At TELUS, we believe that every act of giving, big or small, inspires another. Thanks to this collective effort, our team members and retirees have contributed $10 million over the past decade to make life easier for those affected by type 1 diabetes.
This year, join us in the TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes. Together, let’s turn type one into type none!
On behalf of the TELUS team, my two children who have lived with TD1 for 20 years, we are honoured to walk with you.
