Since the day Joanna Jackson was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D), 40 years ago, JDRF has played a major role in the Jackson family. Their involvement has spanned every program area, including JDRF’s annual Walk and Ride events, participating on gala committees (including chairing), and raising funds for the current In Our Lifetime major gift campaign. Bonnie and Terry have also held leadership roles; in the early years Bonnie served as President of the Toronto Chapter and Terry served as Chair of JDRF Canada and a member of JDRFI’s Board of Directors. Their three daughters, Joanna, Heidi and Holly, and son-in-law Clinton, have been active with the Starlight Soirée in Peel, and have co-chaired A Night of Promise for two consecutive years. JDRF and the T1D community are fortunate to have the Jacksons as philanthropists, fundraisers and exemplary volunteers. Every member of this exceptional family embodies the incredible strength and determination to do what it takes to find a cure for this life-altering disease.
