The Tour of the Peace began in 2016 as a 144 km bike ride to raise money for JDRF in support of a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. The 2017 Tour of the Peace ride was pushed up to a 150 km cycling distance to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday. For 2018 we have something completely new! Diabetes affects people of all walks of life, ages and abilities and so we want to make the Tour of the Peace accessible to everyone! The 2018 Tour of the Peace will still have the challenging 150 km bike ride, but we have added a 75 km bike ride, a 5 km walk and a 10 km run! The Tour of the Peace is not just for cyclists anymore! Whatever your abilities, bring them out to help us raise money to Take Type 1 to Type None!

150 km bike ride Cyclists will start in Taylor, BC, at Peace Island Park, we will travel up the Alaska Highway, through Fort St. John to Mile 54, then turn onto Don Phillips Way to Hudson’s Hope, touring along the future Site C Reservoir, then up the steep climb to the Williston Lake Reservoir created by the WAC Bennett Dam, then back down to finish at Dinosaur Lake Provincial Park above the Peace Canyon Dam. Minimum $500 fundraising
75 km bike ride Cyclists will start this distance at the beautiful Peace Viewpoint lookout, above the Halfway River, travelling along Don Phillips Way to Hudson’s Hope, then up the steep climb to the Williston Lake Reservoir created by the WAC Bennett Dam, then back down to finish at Dinosaur Lake Provincial Park above the Peace Canyon Dam. Minimum $350 fundraising
5 km walk* Walkers will begin at Alwin Holland Park, down along the Peace River to finish at Dinosaur Lake Provincial Park above the Peace Canyon Dam. Minimum $250 fundraising
10 km run* Runners will begin at the Visitor’s centre and tour around Hudson’s Hope then heading down along the Peace River to finish at Dinosaur Lake Provincial Park above the Peace Canyon Dam. Minimum $250 fundraising

The entire cycling trip is fully supported with pilot cars, flaggers at major intersections, signage, 4 rest stops with food and water and a barbeque at the end.  The walk and run will take advantage of the Hudson’s Hope rest stop for food and water and partake in the barbeque at the end.  All proceeds go to support JDRF and their fight to control and cure Type 1 Diabetes.
